Trello Checklist for PE

So here is a draft checklist using Trello:

pe-list-on-print-craft-trello

I’m still getting used to Trello but thanks heaps David Jones
for this. For those who haven’t checked it out:

What is Trello?

Trello is a collaboration tool that organizes your projects into boards. In one glance, Trello tells you what’s being worked on, who’s working on what, and where something is in a process.

Going Appsolutley Crazy!

So things are going well this week I have some gigs to play doing solo just myself and guitar! I was using a rather poor quality Song Chart App called Set List Maker

Now with OnSong:

Replace the binder with OnSong

For only $19.99* you can replace the mess of paper chord charts in binders with a digital, interactive, solution that’s always organized.

So the best part was controlling this very high tech app with my Apple Mac! I had to connect them using a wifi network and IP address and then away I went so easy so load all my song onto this.

Hope you are doing well with your teaching daniel

Cyber safety for Kids

There is a real push for Screen Time restrictions for kids as there is an impending Pandemic of Myopia (short shortsightedness). I found it interesting that kids are needing 20 seconds of eye rest every 20 minutes this is new to me. This is important for me as I teach people about computers and devices. Also I wear glasses and my eyes are slowly deteriorating according to my optometrist.

Optometry Australia launched its Good vision for life campaign in September 2016. The campaign is designed to increase awareness of the role of optometrists and to motivate Australians to have regular eye examinations. The campaign has a strong digital focus with a range of advertisements posted on websites that our target consumer – Australians aged 40-59 – frequent. The placement of these digital advertisements changes regularly so it is not possible to provide a list of websites where you might see them. It is also supported on nationally on Austero by radio advertisements and presenter endorsement as well as a limited television campaign, with channels to be confirmed.

Officetime – not working with Office 365 calendar

My feeback to the project team in Perth:

Hi Matt and Dan,

I’m just playing around with Officetime now it is fairly simple to use and breaks events down as they are recording time or you are entering time. The reporting Quick report function is inbuild and to export to Excel is easy. It also provide visual pie chart in the App.

I think the focus of this App is Billable’s  which may be useful to show trainers how much time costs. Some questions:

Do trainers already have a fair idea of how much time costs?
Would this App suit a trainer assessor once custom categories are input into the App I.e “Coaching”
I don’t think projects sync with Office 365 Outlook Calendar but it does synch with iCal and therefore iPhones will be OK.

Office time – review for trainers

So this is my second post about the ICT Officetime for tracking training and assessment work.

I have installed the App and played around with some entries. It seams to be geared for ‘billables’ in business rather than educational time. Officetime say time management doesn’t have to be complicated and simple management and tracking of time, mean we’ll be likely to stick with it.

The eight-hour workday was created during the industrial revolution in an effort to cut down on the number of hours of manual labor that workers were forced to endure on the factory floor.

I think teachers find it hard to quantify where their time is spent because it revolves around student learning experiences. I don’t think Officetie the App is a silver bullet as teaching is a complex role that can’t be broken down in a business sense unless the categories are teaching related E.g: Coaching students.

Kronologica – An awesome time tracking App

I like the marketing this website uses it will be effective with young family men and women as the images are of children with hands painted.

This App aims to make life easier by linking in all workflows. I use Office 365, Adobe Cloud Dropbox and our student Management system called VatTrack.

Kronologica Say:

We want to make sure that you have the best experience as we scale up so we can’t let you in straight away.  So form an orderly queue and we will get you in as quickly as we can.

Summary of features here:

  • Simple Logging
  • Logging your time should not take you time! We want to work how you work, not get in your way. So ‘log as you go’ or ‘fill it all in at the end of the day’ or something in between. The evidence will be there to back you up.

Evidence Agent

  • Your time isn’t about just what you do at your computer – there are a whole range of other evidence sources that we work with to give you the complete picture about what you have been doing.

Rule Engine

  • Is Facebook considered ‘Marketing’, ‘Social Media’ or ‘Personal’? How do you record coffee breaks? You set the rules, we just follow them.

Reporting

  • Never again will you ponder where all that time went. We can slice and dice your time so finely you will see every detail. Need the 10,000 foot view? We’ve got that too!

ICT for attendance paperwork

So as part of an improvement group I’m part of my company need to find Apps to improve out training and assessing practices in the field.

Office Lens

Office Lens trims, enhances and makes pictures of whiteboards and docs readable. You can use Office Lens to convert images to PDF, Word and PowerPoint files, and you can even save images to OneNote or OneDrive.

This App is like having a scanner in my pocket. I can digitise notes from whiteboards or blackboards, have important documents or business cards to hand, sketch my ideas and snap a picture for later. I also use this for receipts for work expenses.

Cool hey Daniel?

Lego for adults

There is actually alot of research using lego for teaching. But here’s an interesting through for adults.

Here is the blog post I found on Facebook.

My company uses Lego simulation for Lean Systems for business and manufacturing. Like this

Covering many Lean concepts including waste (the seven wastes), inventory buffers and kanban, kaizen and workcells, it’s perfect for facilitating your own Lego session, whether you’re implementing Lean in software development or on a manufacturing shop floor.

The large pack of files includes clear instructions and professional presentation material. Everything you need to run your own version of the game is included, except the bricks.

Self assessment… trending!

I’m just having a study break and watching some uTubes.

Published on 1 Sep 2016

J-Evolution videos start today!! Feeling the need to evolve and develop as a musician. Cant wait to share with you all my experiences in working with the most influential and inspirational people in my journey. Video #1 right here. #jfunk#jevolution

I’m amazing that the term “Self assessment” has made its way into the cover band, professional scene. I thought only daggy trainer assessors like me (haha I am daggy hey Daniel

Even my booking agent is posting these rather abstract uTube videos of his progress with self-0assessment each week? Wow what a window into the rather reflective practice that involved the creative process, instrumental, technocracy and business aspects of a full time musicians life. Cool!

Social Media for business

My cousin Ben O’Connor has a great company called The Shake Up that has spread through word of mouth and social media. This post talking about

Rick Jones is our Winter 10 Week Challenge winner and is a very fine example of what can be achieved with the right attitude!

Between June and August this year, Rick stripped 15kgs of fat off his frame, 15cm off of his waistline and looks 10 years younger!

Wow this is an amazing achievement and what a great business all run by my cousin Ben and his relationship building skills. Facebook is a big part of how he spreas the word about Shake Up events
